ELON, N.C. - Towson University women's tennis junior
Yevgeniya Shusterman posted a 6-2, 7-5 victory at No. 4 singles to secure the eighth-seeded Tigers' first Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) tournament victory since 2007 as they defeated ninth-seeded Hofstra Thursday at Elon's Jimmy Powell Tennis Center, 4-1.
"It was a tough day to play, lots of wind and sun," said head coach
Jamie Peterson. "The girls fought through adversity in the doubles and picked up a huge point. Hofstra played well and was very tough."
The last victory for Towson (12-11) in the CAA Women's Tennis Championship came 11 years ago to the day when the Tigers, also seeded eighth, defeated ninth-seeded Drexel by the same margin, 4-1, at Old Dominion on April 19, 2007.
