Women's Golf Headed To Hawai'i as Spring Schedule Is Announced

TOWSON, Md. – A spring break trip to Hawai'i highlights the Towson University women's golf spring schedule released by head coach Lisa Ferrero Tuesday.
 
The Tigers are scheduled to compete in four events, including the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championships during the spring season. A fifth event may be added during the season.
 
"We're excited about the quality of the tournaments this spring," Ferrero said. "They will get an opportunity to play on some fantastic golf courses against some challenging competition that will help us grow and be in a position to compete for a conference championship."
 
Towson begins its season by competing in the Kiawah Classic in South Carolina on Sunday. The Tigers have finished among the top 30 in each of the last two years in this tournament.
 
After nearly a month away from the golf course, the Tigers travel to Hawai'i to compete in the 2019 Anuenue Spring Break Classic beginning Thursday, Mar. 21. The three-day event will be played at the Waikoloa Resort – Kings' Course.
 
One the Tigers return from the 50th state, they will compete at Georgia State on Sunday, March 31 through Tuesday, April 2.
 
Towson concludes its spring schedule with the CAA Championships. Last season, the Tigers finished third, which was the highest in program history. The three-day championships take place from Friday, April 12 through Sunday, April 14 at the St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C.
 
The Tigers' depth was on display throughout the fall as five different players led Towson in its tournaments. Sophomore Sarah Perine (77.1 average) along with freshmen Julia Calomiris (77.2) and Jayla Kang (77.7) all averaged around the same score.
 
Highlighted by a collegiate low round of 72, Kang led Towson at the Towson Invitational. She also ended the season by leading the Tigers in their final fall event at the Idle Hour Collegiate Championship. Meanwhile, Perine enjoyed a season best round of 73 to lead the Tigers at the Blue Hen Invitational. Perine and junior Erica Han were Towson's top finishers at the Starmount Fall Classic.
 
Calomiris and senior Alix Lowe were the Tigers top finishers at the Pinehurst Challenge. Lowe fired an even par 72 in her first round of the fall. Calomiris shot a career best 74 at the Blue Hen Invitational.
 
In finishing with a 78.3 scoring average, Han placed in the top 30 at the Towson Invitational (sixth) and the Blue Hen Invitational (T29th). She had a season low 72 in the first round at the Blue Hen Invitational.
