TOWSON, Md. – Towson University head men's golf coach
Mike Larkin has announced the signing of Jeremy Summerson to a National Letter of Intent. Summerson will be eligible to play for the Tigers in the fall of 2019.
A native of Rochester, New York, Summerson is one of the top golfers in the western part of the state, competing for Victor High School. So far this season he has a match average of 35.8 through eight matches, the lowest scoring average in Monroe County. He has shot even or under par in four of those eight contests. His season low to this point is a three under par, 32, at the Country Club of Rochester.
He was named the 2018 Rochester District Golf Association Boy's Junior Player of the Year and he won the 2017 RDGA Boys' Junior Championship. Nationally, Summerson also qualified for the 2018 Boys Junior PGA Championship on the strength of his second place finish at the 2018 WNYPGA Junior Championship. His 74-72 there earned him a spot in the national championship, which was contested at the famed Valhalla Golf Club, in Louisville, Kentucky.
He is currently ranked No. 4,867 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. Towson rising senior,
Spencer Alexander, is the only current Tiger also ranked in the WAGR, at No. 3,032.
Summerson is also a standout in the classroom, boasting a 3.8 GPA and a 1410 SAT score. A member of the National Honor Society, he has made the high honor roll every quarter throughout high school. He will study molecular biology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics.
