RICHMOND, Va. – In the 2018-19 academic year, the Towson University field hockey team posted a team GPA of 3.61. After finishing the year as the team with the highest cumulative grade point average among the Tiger squads, the field hockey team continued to earn academic accolades.
 
Announced today, the TU field hockey team has received the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Team Academic Excellence Award.
 
The CAA recognizes the team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest GPA following the previous academic year. Towson's representative among conference opponents is the field hockey team with the 3.61 grade point average for the year.

Last week the team saw 17 student-athletes recognized on the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.

This award comes after the Tigers were recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as an NFHCA National Academic Team in March. Along with the team honor, 15 members of the team were named to the National Academic Squad and four players were selected as Scholars of Distinction.
