2019 Soccer Season Begins With First Day of Practice

TOWSON, Md. – Fall season is underway as the Towson University women's soccer team started practice today.

It was the first time the entire squad came together to practice on the new field. Strength and conditioning Coach Aaron Droege opened practiced with some conditioning exercising on the lower field before head coach Katherine Vettori had the team head over to the upper field for some passing drills, goal keeper drills and mini games.

"We're excited to see where we are going forward and how hard they worked over the summer," said Vettori. "We are looking forward to our intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday."

Senior captain Justine Stoner was beyond ready to get back and was excited to see just as much enthusiasm from the other teammates.

"It feels great to be back and get the season going," said Stoner. "I've been looking forward to it since the spring and I think we have a really good group here. It's already really positive and the energy is really high."

The Tigers open up the season on Thursday, Aug. 22 against Old Dominion with the game scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

"I am really excited for the games to start; that's why we are here. That's the fun part," said Stoner. "Last year so many Towson sports team came out and it gave us that momentum going into the season so I am looking forward to have that same support this year."
