Towson In Third After Two Rounds At UNCG

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Jordan Cornelius set the tone for a strong performance through two rounds for the Towson University women's golf team at the Starmount Forest Fall Classic Monday.
 
The sophomore is one stroke off the tournament lead after finishing the first two rounds with a two-over 146. Cornelius' effort has Towson in third place heading into the final round.

How It Happened
  • Towson shot a two-round score of 606 (+30), which has it behind UAB and UNCG.
  • Cornelius is one of four Tigers among the top 25 overall.
  • Cornelius' even-par round helped Towson achieve a first round score of 298.
  • The 298 was Towson's second lowest round of the fall.
  • Cornelius had four birdies in each round to give her a tournament-best eight.
  • Towson's 25 birdies led the field through two rounds.
  • Helped by birdies on the fourth and fifth holes, Cornelius shot a one-under 35 on the front nine in the first round.
  • Three more birdies on holes 14, 17 and 18 was the key for Cornelius to shoot an even-par 36 on the back nine in the second round.
  • Julia Calomiris is tied for 10th overall after a two round total of 151 (+7).
  • Calomiris along with Jayla Kang and Sarah Perine had five birdies each for the Tigers.
  • Calomiris shot an even-par 36 on the back nine in the first round to finish two-over par.
  • Perine's three birdies on the back nine in the first round helped her finish three-over par.
  • During her strong showing on the back nine in the first round, Perine birdied the 14th, 15th and 17th holes.
