TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's swimming and diving teams are back in action for a mid-week meet taking on Loyola Wednesday, Jan. 22 in Baltimore, Maryland.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. inside Mangione Pool at the Fitness & Aquatics Center.
Swimming Spotlight
Before each meet, the swimming and diving program introduced us to someone in the senior class, but this week the Tigers will introduce us to junior diver
Will Canny. The past Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie and Diver of the Year and Havertown, Pennsylvania native has consistently been making a name for himself.
Canny of course is already looking forward to upcoming CAA's as the season progresses.
"Everyone has been working so hard all season," said Canny. "I'm really looking forward to see how everything comes together at conferences and seeing how much improvement we've made as a team".
The fun and energy level that each athlete provides to one another is the force and drive to keep them all going week after week.
"Something I really love about this team is the amount of energy we bring to every meet," said Canny. "As our season is starting to come to an end we're all excited to make those final end of season pushes to become our best we can be by conference."
Before Canny and the Tigers compete for CAA's, they have a dual-meet with Loyola and senior day on Friday against Delaware.
"We want everyone to do really well," said Canny. "We want fast swims, and on the diving side we had some amazing dives and great energy at Drexel so we want to keep up the momentum and do the same thing at Loyola."
"We want to win," said Canny. "Conferences and dual meets alike, we want to win them all. We want guys to get up on the podium at conferences and get their names on the record board."
Believe it or not Canny uses his teammates as his motivation to have that drive to win and dive well.
"My teammates are my main motivation when I'm on the board," said Canny. "I know how much one event can change the outcome of a meet, so I do my best to help the team win."
