Men's Swimming and Diving Hosts Delaware on Senior Day

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's swimming and diving teams are back in action for senior day, Friday, Jan. 24 in Burdick Hall taking on Delaware.

The meet is scheduled to begin with diving at 2 p.m. and swimming starting at 5 p.m.

During the meet the Tigers are going to recognize seniors Matt Essing, Matt Kenney, Ryan O'Leary, Owen Robinson, Tommy Whitman and Hunter Wright during the meet.

Swimming Spotlight
Before each meet, the swimming and diving program introduced us to someone in the senior class, but this week the Tigers will introduce us to junior Nick McClure. The accounting major from Richmond, Virginia is more than excited to finish the season off and prepare for the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championships.

"As the season goes on, I am most looking forward to conferences," said McClure. "The energy and atmosphere is unlike anything else. As we approach conferences, the team is getting more and more excited."

"This is the time of year that everyone starts to really feel good in the pool and feel more confident about the work they've been doing all year. Like most end of year meets, the expectation and hope is to drop and place well."

McClure has been a huge contributor in the 200-yard relays and the 200-yard butterfly's. He has been a part of numerous first place finishes including this past Wednesday's victory. Going forward through the rest of the season his main goal is to make sure he keeps up the same enthusiasm and contributes to his team.

"Personally, I'm looking to drop and improve on my placement in my events and contribute to relays," said McClure. "As a team we want to place as high as possible."

McClure's motivation to succeed comes from a variety of sources, his family, friends and teammates. He also really stepped into one of the leadership roles as an upperclassman which made him more determined to help score high in his events.
