TOWSON, Md. - Saturday afternoon the 2020 dual season continues for the Towson University tennis team. The Tigers travel to face Maryland in College Park, first serve is set for noon.
Scouting the Tigers
Towson is coming off a split opening weekend with a route of Saint Francis on Friday, Jan. 17 before falling on the road at No. 20 Virginia last Saturday.

Themis Haliou had key showings against SFU, winning their doubles match and both going on to win their singles matches.Â
Scouting the Terrapins
Maryland is coming off a 4-3 victory over Georgetown to start the season, holding a 1-0 record. The Terps saw two doubles wins and two singles wins to take the day. Before hosting Towson on Saturday, Maryland is facing Southern Utah this evening at home.
Last Time Against Maryland
This will be the first meeting between these in-state opponents since 2013 in the dual season. Towson competed in the fall of 2019 in the Bedford Cup, hosted by Maryland each year, and saw action against some Terrapins unofficially. In 2013 UMD came out with a 7-0 victory.
Tigers In The Community
The Towson University athletics department deems community service as one of its highest priorities to give back to the Greater Baltimore area. For the seventh consecutive year, the department exceeded 10,000 hours of community service to the Greater Baltimore region, finishing with 11,162 hours of community service in the 2018-19 academic season. Towson ranked No. 1 nationally for community service and won the 2018 National Championship for Community Service through the Helper Helper NCAA Team Works Competition. Towson had a 97% participation rate, attended 118 community service opportunities and volunteered with 19 organizations. Towson won the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
