TOWSON, Md. – A seven-match road swing continues for the Towson University tennis team this weekend with a match at West Virginia on Friday and a neutral site meeting with Toledo on Saturday.
Both games will be played in Morgantown, Friday's first serve is set for 5 p.m. and Saturday will begin at 9 a.m.
Scouting the Tigers
Towson enters the weekend 1-2 after falling to Maryland last week in College Park.
Sarah Pospischill has been performing well for the Tigers with a win in singles against the Terrapins. Towson's solo win so far was against Saint Francis two weeks ago.
Scouting the Mountaineers
This is WVU's first match of the dual season, the last action the Gold and Blue saw was in early November. West Virginia returned two seniors and two juniors this year. Last year Towson and WVU met in Morgantown and the Mountaineers came out with a 7-0 victory. The Tigers have fallen in the last three meetings, all on the road.
Scouting the Rockets
Toledo has a 1-1 record entering the weekend after falling to Marshall at home on Sunday. The Rockets opened the year with a 4-3 win over Youngstown State also at home. The two teams will meet on Saturday, it will be the first meeting in at least the last 13 years.
Tigers In The Community
The Towson University athletics department deems community service as one of its highest priorities to give back to the Greater Baltimore area. For the seventh consecutive year, the department exceeded 10,000 hours of community service to the Greater Baltimore region, finishing with 11,162 hours of community service in the 2018-19 academic season. Towson ranked No. 1 nationally for community service and won the 2018 National Championship for Community Service through the Helper Helper NCAA Team Works Competition. Towson had a 97% participation rate, attended 118 community service opportunities and volunteered with 19 organizations. Towson won the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
