TOWSON, Md. - Sunday saw split results for the Towson University women's tennis team as the Tigers dropped a morning match against Villanova before defeating Coppin State at home. The Tigers move to 2-7 on the season after taking down the Eagles 7-0.
How it Happened
- Towson saw one win against the Wildcats as Phoebe Collins defeated her singles opponent. Collins' win saved the Tigers from being shutout as the Black and Gold fell 6-1.
- Villanova took the doubles point handily. Sarah Pospischill saw a strong fight going to three sets in singles play after taking the first set in a 6-2 win.Â
- Upon returning home the Tigers secured their second win of the season over Coppin State, taking a 7-0 shutout.
- Notably, Amelia Lawson and Elessa Jacobs held their opponents scoreless in singles play.
- Towson won every match against the Eagles in straight sets.

The Tigers have a solid break without play and return to action on Saturday, Feb. 29 at the College of Charleston to open conference action.
