GILBERT, Ariz. -- After placing 20 student-athletes on the NFHCA National Academic Squad, the Towson University field hockey program was recognized as one of the top academic squads, announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association on Tuesday.

Towson tied with the University of Massachusetts for the most student-athletes named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad while four institutions, Dartmouth, Temple, Villanova and Yale, had 19 honorees.

The 20 Tigers were: Carli Herman, a four-year honoree, Pamela Abbott, Gretchen Alderfer, Samantha Aljets, Gianna Antone, Georgia Beachley, Kasey Bubel, Jenna Florenzo, Biera Ho, Hannah King, Megan McGlothlin, Melissa McGlothlin, Hannah McKeon, Tess Okkerse, Kathryn Parkinson, Paige Reese, Kendra Sykes, Mackenzie Tillman, Nathalie Tortolero, Jessica von Schmidt-Pauli and Abigale Webster.

Two Division I academic awards remain to be announced — the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Scholars of Distinction will be announced on March 23 and the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Scholar-Athlete will be released on March 31. The Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Academic Team Award was announced on March 3.
