TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team open its home weekend hosting the DeMarini Tiger Clash March 6-8 in the Tiger Softball Complex.
The Tigers host LaSalle Friday, March 6 at 3 p.m. for the home opener, as well as host Iona and Stony Brook through the weekend.

Last Time Out
During the first game against Princeton last Friday,
Nicole Kidwiler hit her first homerun of the season, giving Towson a 2-1 lead. The game came down to the wire and Towson took the lead in the top of the eighth after
Madison Wilson reached base and eventually scored on a throwing error (3-2). Princeton came back to win 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth.
After the unfortunate loss against Princeton,
Jaclyn Mounie reached base on a double to center field, followed by
Chloe Poulichs' triple to left center to bring home two base runners. The Tigers sealed the deal in the top of the eighth after a single by
Julia Smith-Harrington singled to right center advancing all the runners on base including scoring Ramirez.
Scouting LaSalle
LaSalle is starting the season 0-8, including three mercy rule losses against Tenessee Tech (6-16 F/5), Virginia (2-10 F/5), and most recently New Mexico (5-13 F/5).
Freshman outfielder, Lex Ortman, leads the Explorers is batting a .393, followed by sophomore utility player Kaylee Piven averaging .357.
Scouting Iona
Iona suffered a tough loss on February 23 against Seton Hall after first baseman, Jasmine Temple, hit a pop fly out to right field.
The Gaels are led by left fielder, Jessica Chilcott, and short-stop, Kaelene Walter , both batting a .417 in 12 at bats. Pitcher Alana Evans leads the Gaels in pitching with a 2.52 ERA.
Scouting Stony Brook
The Seawolves added a third game to their losing streak last Sunday against Jacksonville (1-2), making their overall record 7-3.
Senior outfielder, Jordan Hering leads the Seawolves in hits (18) and runs (13) in 38 at bats, and a batting average of .474.
In the circle, junior Dawn Bodrug has a 0.77 era with 35 innings pitched and 7 game appearances.
Scouting Towson
The Tigers are led by Smith-Harrington who has a .457 batting average, 16 hits, with two doubles and two home runs.
Nicole Kidwiler leads the team in RBIs (7) and is tied with
Jaclyn Mounie and Smithing-Harrington in runs (5).
In the circle, Smith-Harrington has a 1.81 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 27 innings-pitched.
Sara Johnson leads the team with 28 strikeouts in 6 game appearances.
Tigers in the Community
The Towson University athletics department deems community service as one of its highest priorities to give back to the Greater Baltimore area.
- For the 7th consecutive year, the department exceeded 10,000 hours of community service to the Greater Baltimore region, finishing with 11,162 hours of community service in the 2018-19 academic season.
- Towson ranked #1 nationally for community service and won the 2018 National Championship for Community Service through the Helper Helper NCAA Team Works Competition.
- Towson had a 97% participation rate, attended 118 community service opportunities and volunteered with 19 organizations.
- Towson won the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
