Field Hockey Welcomes Five to Squad

TOWSON, Md. – Announced by head coach E.A. Jackson, the Towson University field hockey team is excited to welcome five players to the squad.

Playing for the Tigers in the fall will be Morgan Bomberger, Annie Keele, Lydia Miller, Macy Miller and Kaiya Subar. This is the first wave of student-athletes to join the field hockey team, another group of incoming players will be announced at a later date.

Morgan Bomberger
Hometown: Lititz, Pa.
High School/Club Team: Warwick/ABC Field Hockey
Position: Defense
Accolades: Reached league and district playoffs three straight seasons, finished with two goals and 11 defensive saves, her most memorable achievement was scoring a penalty stroke in overtime to win against the team's rival. Lancaster-Lebanon League All-Section First Team in 2018 and 2019, All-League Team in 2018 and 2019 as well. Penn Live All-Star Team Honorable Mention in 2018, 2019; Warwick Field Hockey Co-Captain in 2019. Named to the Distinguished Honor Roll four straight years, on the Lancaster-Lebanon League All-Academic Team in 2018 and 2019. Also played girls lacrosse at Warwick H.S. for four years, co-captain in 2019.

"We are really excited to add Morgan into the mix next year," Jackson said. "She is an intelligent athlete who reads plays very well. Morgan has a keen sense of when to distribute the ball and when to carry it. She makes everyone around her look better. She is wise beyond her years, and our entire team instantaneously knew she was a perfect fit as soon as we all met her. Her gentle and kind demeanor off the field is warm and welcoming, but she's in beast-mode as soon as she steps on the pitch."

Annie Keele
Hometown: Bel Air, Md.
High School/Club Team: C. Milton Wright/H2O
Position: Midfield
Accolades: AAA Maryland State Champion in 2018, state finalist in 2017 and AAA regional champion in 2019. Finished career with 32 goals and 54 assists. First Team All-County in 2018 and 2019. Four-year field hockey starter; won the MVP award in the 2019 season. Also played varsity tennis for four years, a 2019 All-County First Team selection. Had two years of participation in the U.S. Futures Program.

"Annie plays with some serious spunk who embodies the phrase 'small but mighty'," Jackson said. "She is a go-getter who creates chaos in the attacking circle. We love the energy with which she plays and can't wait to integrate her into our system of play in the fall. Annie is a goal-scoring machine, and even more impressive is her ability to understand when to take a shot versus when to pass. Her assist statistics speak for themselves."

Lydia Miller
Hometown: Mount Joy, Pa.
High School/Club Team: Donegal/Alley Cats
Position: Defense/Midfield
Accolades: PIAA State Champion 2018 and 2016; PIAA District Champion from 2016-2018. Lancaster-Lebanon League Second Team in 2019. Varsity letterman in 2018 and 2019, team captain in 2019. Summa Honor Roll 2016-20, will graduate with honors. Participated in the U.S. Futures Program for three years.

"Lydia is a smart athlete who reads the game well," Jackson said. "She's powerful and determined on defense and once she regains possession of the ball she's able to distribute the ball to her teammates with speed and precision. She is intelligent and analyzes when to take risks with passes up field the midfield and when to transfer to another defender. She will be a tremendous addition to our back line."

Macy Miller
Hometown: Timonium, Md.
High School/Club Team: Garrison Forest/Reach
Position: Midfield
Accolades: 2019 IAAM A Champion, played in the IAAM A championship game sophomore, junior and senior year before winning this past fall. A National Futures Championship participant, she participated two years in the U.S. Futures Program. In addition, played lacrosse, golf and ran track in high school. Was an honor roll student all four years.

"Macy has one gear: and that is hard-core kamikaze, all the time!" Jackson said. "Macy plays with an infectious energy that is really fun to watch. Her explosion on the ball creates a fast-paced game that challenges her teammates to think two steps ahead. Her style of play and intense leadership on the field is going to make a wonderful addition to our program."

Kaiya Townsend Sabur
Hometown: Severn, Md.
High School/Club Team: Old Mill Senior/Freedom Hockey
Position: Midfield/Attack
Accolades: Regional champion in 2019. In 2019 she was the leading scorer in Anne Arundel County. Three-time First Team All-County selection, the two-year captain was also selected to the All-State First Team and All-Metro Second Team. She also played lacrosse and participated in bowling and bocce. Participated in the U.S. Futures Program for nine years, was a four-year participant at a Level 1 Elite site.

"Kaiya has the quickest hands I've ever seen," Jackson said. "Her elimination skills are dangerous and this athlete knows how to finish. We are really excited to get Kaiya up on our front line and let her do her thing. We can't wait to watch Kaiya's progression as an athlete in this program!"
