ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Towson University tennis team will head back to Annapolis, Maryland for the second consecutive weekend to compete in Navy's Blue and Gold Invitational from Friday, Oct. 8 to Sunday, Oct. 10.

LAST TIME OUT
The Tigers competed at Navy last weekend at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship.
In singles, Themis Haliou won her first match, defeating Amber Policare of Maryland, 6-3, 6-4. The rest of the team dropped their matches and went on to the consolation round. Jessica Assenmacher, Amelia Lawson and Sarah Pospischill all earned wins in the back draw.
Haliou and Assenmacher advanced to the round of 16 in doubles, but fell to the No. 2-seeded team of Nielsen and Friedland of Penn State, 6-0.
SPRING RECAP
The black & gold finished the spring 2021 season with a 7-14 overall record. Haliou got three wins at the No. 1 spot and five at the No. 3. Lawson also picked up eight wins courts three and four. Pospischill won 11 matches between playing on courts four, five and six. Assenmacher also secured seven wins on the last two courts.
NEW FACES
In addition to the nine returners, head coach Jamie Peterson welcomed three new student-athletes to the team in the offseason. Freshmen Sissi Axelsson and Nadeen Shrebati both joined the squad from Sweden and Australia, respectively. Sophomore Olivia Rothfeld also transferred from Georgia Southern.
