Swimming and Diving Resumes Schedule Across Town

Back in the Water
After a week away from competition, the both Tiger squads return to Greater Baltimore for a quick trip around I-695 for a clash at the UMBC Aquatics Center with long-time foe UMBC. It will be the first meeting between programs since the 20019-20 campaign.

In The National Rankings
In the Preseason CSCAA Coaches' Polls, neither men's or women's programs are mentioned among the CSCAA Preseason Coaches Poll this fall.

On the Road Again (Sort Of) - Women
Saturday's showdown in Catonsville will be the third-straight road meet for the women's side after opening the season at home against James Madison. The women are comming off a setback at William & Mary that featured just the swimmers, as the Tribe do not field a dive squad. Towson is 2-2 on the year with wins over JMU and Johns Hopkins, but the Tigers have not taken back-to-back losses this season. In the loss at William & Mary, Towson's distance team continued to dominate as Meagan Clark won the 500-yard and 200-yard freestyle events while Karlee Carminati picked up a win at 1000-yards. Hailey Ritter, Samantha Casolo and Ava Enriquez swept the top spots in the 100-yard butterfly. Towson's sprinters, Maddie Mince, Parker Schulz and Ritter, took second, third and fourth in the 50-yard free as well.

Not a Long Road, But Still The Road - Men
Towson's men's swimming and dive team continues its long road swing to kick off the 2021-22 season, going for its third meet away from Burdick Pool to open the year. The Tigers dropped William & Mary handily two weeks ago by a 172-89 count, aided by a pool record from Brian Benzing in the 100-yard breaststroke, doing so in a notoriously slow pool in 55.29. Towson added wins in both relays while also picking up the team's first win over William & Mary since the 2014-15 season and first victory in Williamsburg since Nov. 7, 2003.

Scouting the Retrievers - Women
UMBC's women's swimming and diving team returns to UMBC Aquatic Center with a 1-3 mark, falling at common opponent William & Mary 184-77 last Saturday. The Retrievers are 1-1 at home this season, picking up wins over Johns Hopkins (157.5-122.5) but falling to Delaware (129-171) in the season opener. Kylie Kelly won the 200-yard butterfly for the Retrievers in Williamsburg.

Scouting the Retrievers - Men
The UMBC men's swimming and diving team returns to Catonsville with an 0-4 record, falling last weekend at William & Mary by a narrow 132-129 margin. The Retrievers are 0-2 at home this year, dropping decisions to Johns Hopkins (168-120) and Delaware (169-131) in the season opener. Kai Wisner has been a bright spot for UMBC this year, winning both the 500-yard and 1,000-yard freestyle events at William & Mary last weekend.
