BROCKPORT, N.Y. — 21 student-athletes of the Towson University's field hockey team have earned recognition on the 2020 NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. The National Field Hockey Coaches' Association made the announcement Thursday morning.
The program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2020-2021 academic year.
The Tigers named to list included: Pamela Abbott, Samantha Aljets, Gianna Antone, Georgia Beachley, Morgan Bomberger, Kasey Bubel, Elizabeth Harper, Annie Keele, Hannah King, Megan McGlothlin, Melissa McGlothlin, Hannah McKeon, Lydia Miller, Kathryn Parkinson, Paige Reese and Lena Vandam.
Beira Ho, Jenna Florenzo, Kendra Sykes, Jessica von Schmidt-Pauli and Abigale Webster were all named as four-year honorees.
The University of Louisville led all institutions with the most National Academic Squad selections, placing 25 student-athletes on the list. Ball State University had the second-most honorees, with 24 student-athletes recognized.
Three Division I academic awards remain to be announced — the NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction will be announced on March 25 and the NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Awards will be released on March 29. The NFHCA Division I National Scholar-Athlete will be announced on June 15, 2021.
