Williamsburg, Va. – After three rounds of play at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, Towson University women's golfer Jordan Cornelius finished tied for 7th place out of 67 golfers in the tournament.
Cornelius (77-79-74) ended with her best round, shooting two-over-par and two birdies. The junior totaled 230 strokes (+14) at the completion of the competition. She ended the third round tied with two other golfers.
Oihana Extezerrata of Delaware held on to win the outing with a final score of 215 (-1).
The Tigers finished in 6th place out of 12 teams. The team had their best round in the final 18 holes, shooting 26-over, 314. Towson compiled a tournament total of 954 strokes (+90).
"Great to see the ladies each have a lot of positive takeaways," head coach Shannon Briggs said. "We are gaining momentum heading into the conference tournament. Jordan played solid the entire tournament and she has yet to peak. It will be an exciting finish to an amended season."
Julia Calomiris (76-83-78) shot six-over in the final round to bring her total tournament score to 237 (+21). She finished tied for 16th place with one other golfer. The junior also added two birdies in the third round.
Both Faith McIlvain (83-79-81) and Sarah Perine (83-92-81) carded nine-over in the final 18 holes. McIlvain ended the second tournament of her rookie season with 243 strokes (+27) while Perine totaled 256 strokes (+40).
Rounding out the squad, Emma Cox (98-80-82) shot 10-over in the third round to bring her tournament total to 260 (+44).
Towson will play its final regular season tournament in the Navy Spring Invitational from Friday, April 2 to Saturday, April 3.
