Women's Golf Announces 2021 Fall Slate

TOWSON, Md. — The Towson University women's golf team has announced its 2021 fall schedule, featuring five tournaments.

"Competing against some of the top teams on the east coast will allow our team the cadence and experience to prepare for the CAA Championship this spring," head coach Shannon Briggs said. "I'm very excited for our ladies, we are charging forward with optimism and a resilient mindset for continuous improvement. Having an experienced team with two incoming freshman is an ideal position for our team to build from."

The team will kick off the season at Penn State for the Nittany Lion Invitational, Sept. 4-5.

The following week, the Tigers will travel to Virginia for the Kingsmill Resort's Fall Invitational hosted by William & Mary on Sept. 12-13. Towson competed at Kingsmill last spring and finished tied for sixth place. Rising senior Jordan Corenlius was the top individual finisher for the Tigers as she ended tied for seventh place with a three-round total of 230 (+14) strokes.

To finish off competition in the month of September, the Tigers will head south to Greenville, N.C. for East Carolina's Pirate Collegiate Classic on Sept. 20-21.

In the team's only competition of October, Towson will head to Florida for the Juniper Women's Invitational, hosted by Florida Atlantic University from Oct. 4-5. The tournament will be played at the PGA Golf Club Ryder Course in Port St. Lucie, Fl. The course is named after Samuel Ryder, the namesake and founder of the Ryder Cup.

After nearly a month away from the course, the Tigers will return to North Carolina to compete in the Grandover Fall Classic from Nov. 1-2. The tournament, hosted by UNCG, will be held at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. This course served as the host site for the CAA Championship last spring when the team finished in fifth place.

"Opportunity is knocking for our team and I'm excited to work with such a competitive group, the depth of our roster is our strength," Biggs added. "I'm very proud of our ladies and know they all can't wait to be on campus to enjoy a full year of competition. Go Tigers!"
