CORAL SPRINGS, Fl. — Julia Calomiris of the Towson University women's golf team has been named a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar for a third consecutive year.
A total of 1,432 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with this honor as announced Tuesday afternoon. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics as the minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
Calomiris competed in all four tournaments of spring 2021. She secured an average of 77.9 over 11 rounds of golf, the best on the team. The rising senior shot a season-low 73 during the second round of the Navy Spring Invitational and finished first at the tournament out of 28 golfers with a two-round score of 153 (+9). The win marks her first collegiate top-finish and the first for the Tigers since 2014. At the CAA Championship, Calomiris finished tied for 15th with a three-round score of 233 (+17).
"I am very proud of Julia's hard work and dedication both on and off the course," head coach Shannon Briggs said. "It's a great honor for her to be a multi-year recipient."
