Nelson, Kubek and Kornegay-Lucas Earn CAA Postseason Honors

RICHMOND Va. — Just before the start of the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Basketball Championship, three members of the Towson University women's basketball team have earned All-CAA honors.

Aleah Nelson was selected First Team All-CAA while Allie Kubek was picked to the All-CAA Third Team. Kylie Kornegay-Lucas was also selected as the Sixth Player of the Year.

The Tigers eclipsed their third 20-win season in program history, ending the regular season with a 23-6, 14-4 (CAA) overall record. The 23 wins also set new program records for most regular season and overall victories. The 14 conference wins set a new program high for most CAA victories in a season.

Aleah Nelson

Aleah Nelson has led the Tigers all season as the floor general, averaging 16.8 points per game. She reached 10+ points in 27 of 29 regular season contests, including the final 14 games. Nelson netted a career-high 39 points against Florida in the WNIT Preseason Classic (Nov. 12) at NC State's Reynolds Coliseum. The performance broke the building record that had been set 30 years prior.

The Baltimore, Maryland native paces the Tigers with 5.4 assist per game to rank top-30 in the nation and top three in the league. With six helpers against Drexel in the team's final game of the regular slate, Nelson broke the single season assist record with 156 total dimes. The previous high of 151 was set by Q. Murray during the 2019-2020 season. The junior point guard also leads the team with 1.2 steals per game.

Nelson was named Preseason All-CAA ahead of the 2021-22 slate and to the All-CAA Second Team after her first campaign in the conference last season.

Allie Kubek

Allie Kubek posted a solid sophomore season with the Tigers, finishing the regular season ranked second on the team with 14.7 points per game. She scored a career-high 28 points against James Madison, hitting a high of 11 field goals. The 6-1 forward has reached double digits in 23 outings, earned 20+ points in five games and recorded four double-doubles. She also boasts 5.7 boards and 1.1 steals per game.

Kubek earned a CAA All-Rookie team pick after the 2020-21 season.

Kylie Kornegay-Lucas

Despite missing the nonconference portion of the schedule, Kylie Kornegay-Lucas has been one of the most explosive players on the floor for Towson. Against Delaware (Feb. 9), Kornegay Lucas' recorded a historic triple-double with 11 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. The feat marks the first at Towson since 1993, and just the second in program history at the Division I level. It is also the first in the CAA since 2018.

The point guard has reached double figure scoring six times and reached a season best 20 points against both Elon (Feb. 6) and James Madison (Feb. 13). She currently ranks second on the squad with 5.8 rebounds and 3.5 helpers per game.
