TOWSON, Md. – After his top-10 finish and career-low at Hartford Hawk Invitational,
Julian Gonzalez has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Golfer of the Week, announced by the league on Wednesday.
Jackson Courtney was the last Towson golfer to earn this award after his performance at the 2021 Carpetbagger Classic where he was one of five players to shoot an even par. Courtney tied for sixth after rounds of 79-72-72.
Gonzalez tied for eighth in a field of 95 players earlier this week at the Hartford Hawk Invitational. The graduate student from Costa Rica finished the tournament 5-under after rounds of 72-66-73. His second round was a career-low by three strokes, and he was one of five golfers in the tournament to shoot a 66 or under throughout the three rounds.
Towson placed second overall for the event after finishing 7-under. The Tigers' performance was the fifth best score to par for a 54-hole tournament in program history.
Next up the team will compete in the Howard/San Francisco Intercollegiate held at TPC Potomac at Avenal Farm next Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 26-27).
