Lake Worth, FLA – The Towson University men's golf team finished the first day of the Southern Invitational in fourth place, finishing the first two rounds with a score of 584 (+8).
Jacksonville sits atop the standings as the only team to conclude day one under par. The Dolphins posted a score of 573 after rounds of 286 and 287.
Jeremy Summerson dominated the field for the first day, finishing on top after 36 holes of play. He sits in first place out of 60 players after firing 67 and 68 to finish 9-under. Summerson shot the lowest score out of the entire field for the first round, offsetting two bogeys with seven birdies. He added five more birdies during the second 18 holes, wrapping up the round with an eagle. Summerson leads the tournament for amount of birdies (12) and par 5s average (4.25).
Julian Gonzalez finished the day tied for 15
th after rounds of 70 and 77. He played fairly steady golf, making par on 24 of the 36 holes to tie for fourth most made in the tournament.

th is
Brad Riley, who shot 75 and 76 for the first two rounds. He tallied five birdies for the day which puts him tied for seventh most made.
Not too far behind was
Justin Griffith who completed day one of play tied for 37
th after shooting even rounds of 76 and 76. He notched five birdies for the day as well, to tie with Riley for seventh most made in the tournament.
Poonyapat Nantsupawat wrapped up day one after rounds of 78 and 78, earning four birdies across the 36 holes of play.
Jai Sheth rounded out the squad, tying for 49
th after shooting 81 and 76. Sheth favored the hole No.1 as he posted a birdie on the first round and eagle on the second.
The final round of play resumes tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.
