TOWSON, Md.- The Towson University Tigers tennis team starts their fall slate by hosting the Towson Hidden Dual Tournament this week.
The tournament will span over three days, starting on Friday and include hidden duals.
Tournament Information
Facility: Towson University Outdoor Tennis Courts
Start Times: Friday- 5:30 p.m., Saturday- 8:00 a.m., Sunday- 9:30 a.m. & 11:30 a.m.
Team Participation: Towson, Johns Hopkins, Mount St. Mary's and Delaware State
Format: Each hidden dual will be 4 singles matches and one doubles match. Although each match can be adjusted to allow more players to play (3 singles and 2 doubles) or less 5 singles/3 singles and a doubles. For each individual match, the format will be best of 3 sets unless both coaches agree to do a super tiebreaker in lieu of the third set.                                                                                          Â
New Faces
The Black & Gold welcome three new players for this upcoming year with two freshmen and one senior transfer.
Ashira Murray comes to Towson after playing across the pond in England, while
Chandré Boshoff comes over from South Africa.
Mya Spencer joins the Tigers after playing three seasons as Saint Louis and is a Bowie, Maryland native. Spencer totaled 37 singles wins and 35 doubles wins for the Billikens. Last year the Tigers won eight singles matches and five doubles matches at the Fall Tiger Classic.
Olivia Rothfeld and
Jessica Assenmacher each had three singles wins, while
Sarah Pospischill totaled two singles wins. Five different pairings won a doubles match.
