TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's tennis team confirms its first two signings of its 2024 class announced by head coach
Jamie Peterson. Aubrey Carper and Tamzin Pountney are set to join the Tigers in the fall of 2024.
"We are very excited to have gotten commitments from Tamzin Poutney and Aubrey Carper, two different players that will bring different strengths to the table," said head coach
Jamie Peterson. "In Aubrey we have more of a late blooming competitive tennis player. She continues to learn with each competitive match she plays and will have a great opportunity to improve and help solidify the future of the team. Tamzin comes with a bit more experience from her native Britain's LTA having captained and represent her region in team competition. She adds a fourth left-handed player to next year's squad in addition to returnees
Olivia Rothfeld,
Sania Suchinsky, and
Chandre Boshoff."
Carper joins the Tigers after playing two years at Franklin High School. The Towson native was a double state semifinalist and a regional doubles champion. She earned District Player of the Year and all mid-state honors. Last season Carper went 13-0 in the No.1 singles spot. She was named to the Franklin High School Honor Roll and is a part of the National Honor Society.
Pountney comes to Towson from Shrewsbury, England. She reached the national finals and finished fourth. Pountney represented her region and was named the captain.
