NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Towson University track & field team is set for the second annual Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Indoor Championships on February 22 and 23 at The Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory in New York City.
The Elon University women's track and field program was crowned the winners of the inaugural Women's CAA Indoor Track and Field Championship in February 2023 after accumulating 129.83 points and one individual first-place finish. Hampton was the runner-up with 121.33 points while Northeastern rounded out the podium in third with 93 points.
At last year event the Tigers tied with Delaware for sixth.
Fatimah Owens finished third in the weight throw with a PR of 18.61m. Alum
Aliyah Anderson placed second in the high jump with a 1.64m mark.
Cristal Cuervo earned a bronze medal in the 200m dash after clocking a PR of 24.31.

Regular Season Recap
The Tigers set four new school records, made many top-10 all-time marks and picked up several PRs throughout the 2024 indoor season. Towson began its campaign at the Navy Invitational on December 2, starting the season off with two school records.
Manie Mevo broke the triple jump record with a mark of 12.46m while
Cristal Cuervo set a new 200m dash record with a time of 24.00. The following week both athletes earned CAA honors as Cuervo was named CAA Track Athlete of the Week and Mevo picked up Field Athlete of the Week.
At the Ramapo College Opener on January 19 Mevo reset her record, setting a new school and CAA record in the triple jump with a mark of 12.50m. Afterwards she received her second CAA weekly award of the season as she was named Field Athlete of the Week.
Cristal Cuervo made history for Towson again at the Penn State National Meet from January 26-27, becoming the second Tiger in school history to break 55 seconds in the 400m dash. The junior ran a PR of 54.94 which marks second all-time in program history. At the same meet
Maya Tucker made her way on to the top 10-all-time list in the 60m dash for the second time this season, clocking a new PR of 7.58 for fourth all-time.
Leeann Redlo posted the second-best mark in school history in the pentathlon, earning 3395 points.
At Penn State's Sykes & Sabock meet on February 3,
Baara Stewart and
Lexi Mogensen clocked top-10 marks in the 800m. Stewart ran the fourth fastest time in program history with a PR of 2:17.24 while Mogensen ran a PR of 2:19.65 which ranks fifth all-time.
The Tigers capped off their regular season with another school record at Liberty's Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on February 9-10. The distance medley relay crew made up of

Satori Valentine,
Baara Stewart and
Aubrey Schaffer ran a 12:14.07 for a new program record.
Fatimah Owens threw a PR of 14.43m in the shot put which ranks fifth all-time.
The Field At A Glance
Going into the meet Northeastern ranks first in the CAA followed by Hampton. Conference newcomer Campbell is ranked third. The Camels excel in the sprint events as their athletes rank first in the conference in the 60m, 200m and 400m. The Huskies specialize in distance as they hold the top marks in the mile, 3000m and 5000m. Hampton has the top 4x400 relay time of 3:43.41. The Lady Pirates have depth across the field events as many of them rank in the top five in several events. Their athletes also hold the top three marks in the shot put.
Tigers In the Rankings
Towson ranks seventh in the CAA, only two points behind William & Mary. In the Mid-Atlantic region, the Tigers are ranked 14
th. In the women's triple jump team rankings via USTFCCCA the team ranks 16
th.
For the CAA individual rankings
Sydney Tucker and
Maya Tucker are tied for eighth in the 60m dash with times of 7.58 while
Ty'Liyah Hannah is 10
th with a 7.62.
Cristal Cuervo ranks fifth in the 200m with a 24.00 and
Maya Tucker has the eighth fastest time of 24.43. Cuervo also ranks second in the 400m with a 54.94.
Leeann Redlo has the fourth best mark in the high jump of 1.74m.
Manie Mevo has the 10
th best mark in the long jump (5.65m) and top mark in the triple jump (12.50m).
Omokemi Balogun has the seventh best mark in the triple jump of 11.88m while
Skylar Galiano-Holmes ranks ninth with a mark of 11.82m.
Fatimah Owens is fifth in both the shot put and weight throw with marks of 14.43m and 17.94m respectively. Redlo is also third in the pentathlon with 3395 points.

Those who qualify for the NCAA Championship will head to Boston, Massachusetts from March 6-9. The outdoor season starts on March 16 at home as Towson hosts the Tiger Season Opener at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
