TOWSON, Md. – Towson University head field hockey coach
Katie Gerzabek Salem has named Tanner Ridgely an assistant coach, announced Monday morning.
"We are excited to welcome back Tanner Ridgely to the Towson field hockey program," said Coach Gerzabek Salem. "Throughout the process, Tanner's positive energy, optimism and outgoing personality showed through. Her familiarity with Towson University and the CAA from her playing days at JMU and her connections with the Maryland field hockey community will be a great asset to our program. We are looking forward to having Tanner a part of our team!"
The Frederick, Maryland native rejoins the program after two seasons as an assistant coach with the Dartmouth Big Green. While at Dartmouth, she was primarily responsible for the development of the attackers. In 2023, Ridgely helped the Big Green win their first Ivy League game since the 2018 season.
Before Dartmouth, Ridgely served as Towson's volunteer assistant coach during the 2021-22 academic year. She helped the Tigers to four wins in the 2021 season, the most since 2011 at that point. The wins came over La Salle (1-0), LIU (1-0), William & Mary (2-1 in overtime) and Davidson (4-3 in a shootout). In addition to her role at Towson, she served as a head coach for the Warhawks Field Hockey Club.
Ridgely graduated with a bachelor's degree in sport and recreation management with a minor in general business from James Madison University in 2021. While at James Madison, Ridgely spent three seasons on the field hockey team.
