TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University track & field team wrapped up its final home meet of the season with seven first place finishes, one school record and several new PRs.
The 4x100 relay (
Sydney Tucker,
Cristal Cuervo,
Ty'Liyah Hannah,
Maya Tucker) earned the first gold medal of the day for the Tigers, winning the event with a 46.05, which ranks sixth all-time in program history.
In the 100m hurdles prelims,
Leeann Redlo crossed the finish line first in a PR time of 14.61 to secure the top spot going into finals.
Morgan Lane earned a PR as well, clocking 14.89 to qualify for finals in the fifth spot. In finals Redlo clocked a 14.72 for fourth while Lane finished right behind her in fifth with a 14.91.
The Tigers swept the 100m prelims, claiming the top four spots and sending four athletes to finals.
Maya Tucker won prelims with a new PR and school record time of 11.38. That time also breaks the Towson Invitational meet record, set last year by Tucker with a time of 11.59.
Cristal Cuervo clocked a PR of 11.53 for second place which moves her up to second all-time while
Sydney Tucker took third with a PR of 11.70 to move from fourth to third all-time in program history.
Ty'Liyah Hannah ran a 12.04 for fourth place.
Towson swept the 100m finals as well, as
Maya Tucker won the event with a 11.60 followed by Cuervo with a 11.75 and
Sydney Tucker with a 11.79. Hannah placed fifth with a time of 11.93.
Satori Valentine was the top finisher for Towson in the 400m, placing fourth with a 58.36.
Baara Stewart won her first collegiate outdoor 800m race, clocking a 2:18.82.
Lexi Mogensen was less than half a second off of her PR in the event, crossing the finish line second overall in 2:19.86.
In the 200m dash,
Cristal Cuervo picked up a gold medal, winning the event with a time of 24.28 which ranks seventh all-time.
Aubrey Schaffer was the runner up in the 5000m, placing second with a huge PR of 17:50.69. The junior dropped over 20 seconds from her previous best time, set at the Towson Invite last season. Freshman
Emma Vacca competed in her first career outdoor collegiate 5000, clocking 19:52.20.
On the field side,
Manie Mevo won the long jump with a mark of 5.50m while Denee Hibbert placed sixth with a 5.37m leap.
In the triple jump,
Kiara Murray was Towson's top finisher. The sophomore placed second overall with a jump of 11.62m, followed by
Skylar Galiano-Holmes in third place with 11.52m.
Marisa D'Angelo was just .05m shy of her mark in the pole vault from two weeks ago, placing fourth with a height of 3.35m.
Fatimah Owens posted marks in the top-10 all-time for all three events she competed in. She was the runner up in the shot put with a toss of 13.26m, which is the seventh best mark in Towson program history. In the hammer throw, Owens took fourth place with a 48.51m, the 10
th best mark in school history. The senior picked up her second silver medal of the meet in the discus as she placed second with a 47.48m, which ranks third all-time in program history.
Kira Parsons won her second consecutive javelin throw of the season, improving from her 37.81m earned at the Towson Season Opener earlier this month. The senior placed first with a mark of 38.29m.
Leeann Redlo placed first in the high jump with a height of 1.60m. The sophomore was the only athlete to pass all three attempts for the 1.50m, 1.55m and 1.60m marks.
The Tigers will split up the next time they compete, with some athletes attending the Dalton Ebanks Invitational at George Mason University on April 5-6 while the others are set to attend the USF Invitational in Tampa, Florida on April 6.
