TOWSON, Md.- The Towson University Tigers tennis team heads to Elon, North Carolina for the CAA Women's Tennis Championship. The No. 10 seed Tigers will take on the No. 7 seed Campbell Camels at the Powell Tennis Center in the first round tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Seeing Double

Lea Kosanovic and
Chandrè Boshoff were selected as the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. The is Towson's first doubles team of the week honor since 2022 when
Themis Haliou and Kosanovic won the award. The duo went 2-0 at the No.1 flight this week. They started off with a 6-3 victory against William & Mary's Yu Chen & Emma Fernald. The pair followed up with a 7-5 victory over the Mount's Sofia Kostirko & Riya Mathur, fighting back from three set points.                                                                                Â

Home Sweet Home
The Tigers wrapped up the 2024 season with a stretch of home matches. Towson played six of its last seven matches at the Tiger Tennis Complex, which included three CAA matches. The Tigers started a five match homestand on Saturday with William & Mary and concluding with Delaware State on April 20
th. The Black and Gold went 2-4, picking up 5-2 win against Mount St. Mary's and a 4-1 win against George Mason.                                                                                                                                                                              Â
New Faces
The Black & Gold welcome three new players for this upcoming season with two freshmen and one senior transfer.
Ashira Murray comes to Towson after playing across the pond in England, while
Chandrè Boshoff comes over from South Africa.
Mya Spencer joins the Tigers after playing three seasons as Saint Louis and is a Bowie, Maryland native. Spencer totaled 37 singles wins and 35 doubles wins for the Billikens.                                                                                  Â
Fall RecapÂ
Towson competed in five tournaments during the fall season. The Tigers started with three wins in the Towson Hidden Dual Tournament. At the Tribe Invitational, the Tigers picked up five wins with
Mya Spencer winning a consolation bracket championship. Towson competed in the Navy Blue & Gold Invitational next. The Tigers totaled two singles wins and one doubles victory. The Black & Gold went down the road and took part in the Greyhounds Women's Tennis Classic. Towson picked up 11 victories as three doubles pairs reached their respective finals. The Tigers closed out the fall season at the ITA Atlantic Regional.
Last Week Recap
The Black & Gold went 0-2 last week. The Tigers finished CAA play against the Drexel Dragons in Philadelphia, Pa. last Friday. Towson fell to the Dragons 7-0. The Tigers closed out regular season play against the Delaware State Hornets. The Hornets edged the Tigers 4-3. In singles action,
Sania Suchinsky won in straight sets, while
Olivia Rothfeld won her match in a
tiebreaking set. Towson won the doubles point after
Lea Kosanovic and
Chandré Boshoff picked up a 6-2 win at flight one, while
Mya Spencer and
Ashira Murray won 7-5 at flight two.
Campbell Scouting Report
The Camels bring in an 11-8 overall record with a 1-4 mark in CAA play. Campbell fell to #1 North Carolina and #8 NC State to start the season, but bounced with three straight sweeps against UNC Greensboro, Mount Olive and Barton. The Camels defeated NC Central 5-2, before falling to Wake Forest. Campbell picked up a 4-3 victory over Coastal Carolina, then lost to East Carolina. The Camels won their next three matches, defeating St. John's, Gardner-Webb and Samford. Campbell fell its first CAA matches to College of Charleston and Elon. The Camels defeated Longwood, then Mount Olive, before picking up its CAA win against Hampton 6-1. Campbell closed out the regular season with losses to William & Mary and UNCW.
