BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Towson University tennis team completed its time at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Regionals on Saturday after two consolation singles matches.
Gaia Montecchi fell 6-4, 6-2 in consolation play against Liberty's Maria Turchetto. The sophomore opened ITAs on Thursday with two wins to clinch a spot in the main draw, securing victories against Morgan State and Georgetown.
Kiersten Tambe battled through three sets against West Virginia's Zuzana Kudlackova, ultimately dropping in a 10-5 tiebreaker decision after sets of 6-3 and 5-7.
Upon reflection of the weekend, head coach Jamie Peterson emphasized that "when highly focused and motivated, we can compete with players at the highest level in the region."
