BALTIMORE, Md. - The Towson University tennis team competed in one doubles match and four singles matches on the first day of the McClure Invitational, hosted by Loyola University Maryland. The Tigers picked up a doubles win and two singles wins against Loyola and Johns Hopkins.
"This was a solid start to the weekend," said head coach
Jamie Peterson. "We stayed competitive and positive throughout all matches. We look forward to getting back at it tomorrow."
Singles
Gaia Montecchi dropped to Hopkins' Karah Li, 6-1, 6-4.
Tamzin Pountney fell to Loyola's Lily Langhus in a 10-8 tiebreaker decision after set scores of 7-5, 2-6.
Senior
Sania Suchinsky picked up a singles win for the Tigers against Loyola's Sabrina Grewal, 6-1, 6-4.
Ashira Murray additionally secured a singles win against Loyola's Katie Moorhead in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
Doubles
Kiersten Tambe and Chandré Boshoff secured a win in the only doubles match of the day against Johns Hopkins' Claire Loftus and Isabel He, 6-3, 6-1.
