TOWSON, Md. – Five Towson University field hockey players have been selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) 2025 Division I Watchlist, announced on Thursday. Sophomores
Anouk Westerink and
Olivia Miller, seniors
Tessa Scheenstra and
Megan Popp and graduate student
Ella Kaufman made up the five Tigers named, the most of any Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) team.
Westerink became the fifth Towson player ever and first freshman to be named to the All-CAA First Team while also being selected to the CAA All-Rookie Team in her first collegiate season. The Ede, Netherlands native started all 18 games last season and finished second on the team with six goals and third with 13 points and was named to the Preseason All-CAA team ahead of this season.
Also named to the CAA All-Rookie Team was midfielder
Olivia Miller, who started every game as a freshman and finished the year with four points while being one of six Towson players to play 1000 minutes. Miller was invited to the USA U-21 Junior Women's National Team Selection Camp during the summer of 2024 and was selected to the 2025 Senior Nexus Championship this summer.
Megan Popp also earned an invite to the 2025 Senior Nexus Championship after a junior season that saw her also start all 18 games and play over 1000 minutes. The Magnolia, Delaware native scored a goal against Northeastern last season and received the CAA Leadership and Sport Excellence Award for field hockey.
Tessa Scheentra enters her senior year having started 53 of a possible 54 games in goal in her three seasons with the Tigers. The Voorburg, Netherlands native finished her junior year with a career best save percentage (.712) and career low goals allowed per game (1.92), and she recorded her 300
th career save against Lafayette on October 27. Her improved play saw her receive a Preseason All-CAA selection entering this season.
Ella Kaufman transferred to Towson before the 2023 season and was selected to the 2022 Senior Nexus Championship. The graduate student and Queenstown, Maryland native finished the 2023 season with four points and was a 2024 Preseason All-CAA Selection.
The Tigers begin the 2025 season tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the TU Field Hockey Complex against Appalachian State.
