TOWSON, Md. - The Towson University tennis team competed in three singles matches and two doubles matches against Georgetown on the first day of the Towson Hidden Duals. Sophomore
Gaia Montecchi picked up a singles win for the Black & Gold on Friday.
"For the first competition since spring we competed pretty well," head coach
Jamie Peterson commented. "But we came up short in three close matches. We will be back to battle Mount St. Mary's tomorrow at 8 a.m."
Singles
Kiersten Tambe competed at the No. 1 spot for the Tigers, falling to Georgetown's Emily Novikov in a 10-2 tiebreaker after sets of 5-7, 6-2.
Gaia Montecchi secured a win for the Tigers against Ashley Kennedy in an 11-9 tiebreaker decision after set scores of 4-6 and 6-3.
Sofia Anderson fell to Julia Chu, 6-0 and 6-1.
Doubles
Chloe Courtnage and
Sania Suchinsky fell in a 10-5 tiebreaker after sets of 4-6 and 6-2 to Georgetown's Katie Garofolo-Ro and Carolyn Schaefer.
Aubrey Carper and
Jocelynn Ginsberg dropped in a 6-4, 6-3 decision against Paige Gilbert and Molly Evans.
