TOWSON, Md. - The Towson University tennis team competed in six singles matches and three doubles matches on the second day of the Towson Hidden Duals against Mount St. Mary's and Johns Hopkins. The Tigers secured three singles and two doubles wins against The Mount.
"We started off really well this morning with five wins and playing good tennis," said head coach Jamie Peterson. "We played a lot of good matches but struggled to win key pressure points. We look forward to concluding the weekend tomorrow in positive fashion."
Singles – Mount St. Mary's
Kiersten Tambe competed in the No. 1 spot for the Tigers, defeating Emma Perkins 6-3, 7-6(5).
Gaia Montecchi picked up another singles win for the Tigers, beating Anna Barlini 6-4, 6-1.
Sania Suchinsky secured the third singles win of the day against Kaajal Ramisetty, 6-4, 6-3.
Doubles – Mount St. Mary's
Chandré Boshoff and Tamzin Pountney defeated Margherita Trolese and Anya Rosenbach 6-2, 6-4.
Aubrey Carper and Chloe Courtnage dominantly bested Emma Kaden and Abigail Gregory, 6-0, 6-1.
Singles – Johns Hopkins
Tamzin Pountney faced Ava Li, dropping 6-0, 7-6 (5).
Gaia Montecchi picked up a set 7-5 against Jay Xiao, but dropped the next set 6-1 and fell 10-6 in the tiebreaker.
Aubrey Carper secured a dominant 6-3 first set against Kam Wong, but fell in the next set 6-4. Wong took the win after a 10-5 tiebreaker decision.
Doubles – Johns Hopkins
Chandré Boshoff and Sofia Anderson fell to Soph Kim and Syd Langer 6-4, 6-3.
