Towson, Md. - The Towson University women's tennis team will play two matches this weekend – hosting William & Mary in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) opener Saturday then heading to Harrisonburg, Virginia to face former CAA foe James Madison on Sunday.
William & Mary (6-2) has made 10 consecutive CAA title matches – winning three consecutive league championships from 2022-24. Three players from last year's singles lineup are back, including Sia Chaudry, who has moved into the No. 1 slot, and Francesca Davis. Davis and freshman Tilda Larsson anchor the doubles. The duo advanced to the Round of 16 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Conference Masters Championships last fall.
James Madison (3-6) is led by Daria Munteanur, a two-time All-Sun Belt performer. Last fall, the senior became the first JMU women's tennis player to compete at the ITA All-American Championships.
AWARD WINNERS
Ashira Murray was named Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Player of the Week on February 24 after improving to 7-0 with a pair of three set victories. Competing at No. 4 singles, the junior battled past Georgetown's Ashley Kennedy, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) to help the Tigers earn a 4-2 team win. She followed by edging Navy's Jina Cha, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (11-9) – capturing the final five points of the match.
A week earlier,
Chandrè Boshoff and
Kiersten Tambe were named the CAA Women's Doubles Team after posting a 3-0 record at No. 1 doubles.
This is the first time that Towson has had multiple conference Players of the Week since 2016 when Lucy Wiliams and Barbora Vasilkova both earned Player of the Week honors.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS
With a victory over Georgetown on February 20, head coach
Jamie Peterson moved into third place on the all-time wins list with 79 victories – passing Doug Neagle. Only Ken Volk (106 wins) and Peter Walten (86) have more coaching wins with the Towson University women's tennis program.

Jamie Peterson was two-time team captain on the Towson men's tennis team from 1991-95 and finished his career with a 64-35 record, the fourth-most wins and fourth-best winning percentage in program history. He led the Tigers to back-to-back appearances in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship in 1993 and 1994.
