TOWSON, Md. – Senior
Juan Veloza of the Towson University men's golf team earned All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) honors, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
A political science major with a minor in mass communication, Veloza was named to the All-CAA Academic Team.
Veloza, who averaged 76.6 in 18 rounds, was a key contributor to the Tigers success this past season. The Tigers finished third at the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championships. The Tigers had a strong weekend and shot an 856, which was eight-under par. Towson's 8-under is tied for the fourth lowest three-round score.
Veloza saved his best performance for his final career event, the CAA tournament. He was tied for 13th overall after a three-round even-par 216. He shot a three-under 69 second round, his best of the year, at the CAA championships. As a freshman Velzoa was the CAA tournament medalist, earning the conference's individual automatic qualifier to the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
