CROSS COUNTRY: Tigers Place 14th At Mid-Atlantic Regional Meet

BETHLEHEM , Pa. - Britta Nelson clocked her third fastest time ever in a 6K race to lead Towson to a 14th place finish in the 2007 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Women's Cross Country Meet hosted by Lehigh this past Saturday.

Nelson, a graduate student, toured the Goodman Course in 22:00 flat, to finish 56th overall in a field of 185 runners. She was 70th in the same race last year when the Tigers placed 19th as a team.

Trailing Nelson were freshman Katie Ogden and sophomore Michelle Donadio who ran second and third for Towson. Ogden's 22:19 placed her 72nd overall. Donadio was 77th with a 22:25.

Senior Kay Borleis  was fourth for the Tigers in 22:47 and 94th overall. Senior Janelle Thompson ran a 23:20 for 121st followed by freshman Brittni Bradley in 165th with a 24:25 and sophomore Devin O'Connell in 173rd with a 24:39.

Princeton successfully defended its team title, finishing with 62 points. West Virginia came in second with 77 points, followed by Georgetown with 79 points. Hoya junior Melissa Grelli had the top women's time, finishing the race in 19:50. 

 

Towson ends its cross country season this Saturday in Bronx, N.Y. when the Tigers compete in the ECAC Championships at the Van Courtlandt Park course.
