BRONX, N.Y ? Sophomore Michelle Donadio finished 12th to lead the Tigers to a fourth place in the team standings in the 23rd Annual ECAC University Race on the 5K Van Cortlandt Park course Saturday.
The fourth place finish among the 25 competing schools was the best ever for the Tigers in this event and a high note for Towson to conclude its 2007 season.
Donadio toured the course in 19:06, finishing 17 seconds ahead of Towson's second place finisher, graduate student Britta Nelson, who was 26th overall in the field of 213 runners.
Senior Kay Borleis was third for the Tigers in 34th place with a 19:34. Freshman Katie Ogden completed an outstanding first year on the college circuit by running 42nd in 19:44 followed by senior Janelle Thompson in 49th (19:49), junior Orla Walsh in 109th (20:52), freshman Brittni Bradley in 134th (21:18), sophomore Devin O'Connell in 162nd (21:50), sophomore Melanie Blanco in 182nd (22:19) and freshman Kelsey Rich in 189th (22:39).
New Hampshire won the team title, running ahead of second place Colgate, 68-96. Individual honors went to Colgate's Elizabeth Kennedy whose 18:14 nosed out New Hampshire's Erica Jesseman by a second.
