TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's golf team begins its 2019 spring schedule by competing in the Loyola Intercollegiate.
Host/Course: Loyola University (MD)/Palms Course at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona.
Par/Yardage: Par 72/7,015 yards
Format: 54 holes (18 Saturday, Sunday and Monday).
Competing for Towson: William Bachelor,
Kobdech Rodrat,
Justin Griffith,
Jackson Courtney and
Doug Grem.
Participating Teams: Air Force, Army West Point, Connecticut, DePaul, Elon, Gonzaga, Hartford, Loyola, Missouri State, Murray State, Seton Hall, SIU-Edwardsville, South Dakota, Towson, UAB, UT-Martin, and Xavier.
Notes: This is the second straight season that the Tigers will begin the spring season in Arizona. This was a memorable event last year for Bachelor. In finishing fourth individually with a score of 201, Bachelor etched his name into the Towson history books with an effort for the ages at the Palm Valley Golf Club. He is now the low scorer in relation to par in any tournament in Towson men's golf history at 15 under par. Bachelor shot rounds of 68-65-68, which left him two strokes out of a playoff. The 65 was a career low for Bachelor, and was also the third lowest round in relation to par by a Towson men's golfer in
program history. Bachelor was locked in during the second round as he had five birdies, along with an eagle on the 11th hole.

Towson head coach Mike Larkin on the potential of his team.
"I'm excited about the potential of this team to make a run at CAAs this year. We've got a deep team, and with some hard work these next couple months we should have a good chance down at Pinehurst in April. The message to the guys early this spring has been about paying attention to the details. We've got a theme for this semester that we're calling "No Shots Off." I'm just looking for full attention from the guys any time they're hitting a shot, whether it be in practice on their own or in the middle of a tournament. Creating that habit will serve us well in the long run."
Larkin on scheduling philosophy.
"This year's spring schedule is set up a lot differently in that we're playing mostly warm weather events leading up to CAAs. It will give our guys a better chance to be as well prepared as they should be for that tournament. I like where we've got things now, and I'm excited to see how things play out with this new setup as we get into April."
Bachelor on his excitement for this tournament and expectations for the season.
"This semester is going to be a blast. We have a great group of guys and hopefully we will be able to shoot some low numbers. We have a very talented group, and if we stick to our process and try to get better each day, we will have a good chance at CAA's. I'm looking forward to this tournament because I get to see my dad and grandparents. Last year we had a ton of fun and I hope to have the same this year."
Bachelor on his Towson experience.
"The best part of my Towson experience has been meeting some of the funniest and coolest guys ever. Coming from California I didn't know what to expect here at Towson, but it did not disappoint. I will miss the guys next year for sure. I think the biggest thing I have gotten better at is being able to hit different shots. I worked a lot this break on being able to shape the ball more. If things go as planned I will be getting my masters' degree in finance back home."
Up Next: Towson will compete in the Lonnie Barton Invitational on Monday, March 4 and Tuesday, March 5 in Daytona Beach. This will be the Tigers first trip to this event since 2016.
