TOWSON, Md. - After some minor changes, the Towson University softball team will travel down to Greenville, North Carolina for the Pirate Invitational hosted by ECU.

The first game is now scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 22 against Pitt at 11 a.m. inside ECU Softball Stadium.

Last Time Out
Towson went 3-for-2 last weekend during the Winthrop tournament, defeating Holy Cross, UNCG and Winthrop.

On the first day of the tournament after falling to Boston University 5-4, Julia Smith-Harrington and Samantha Carson both hit home runs to help the Tigers defeat Holy Cross 7-0. Smith-Harrington threw her first shut out of the weekend.

The next day the Tigers fell to EKU 7-2 but then Smith-Harrington threw her second shutout of the weekend defeating UNCG 7-0. Carson also had her second home run of the weekend in the victory.

On the final day, Towson defeated Winthrop 11-7. Carson hit her third home run, Jessica Swistock had three RBI's and Jaclyn Mounie had three hits.

Scouting Pitt
The Panthers fell to Maryland 10-9 on Sunday, Feb. 16. in the ACC/BIG Challenge.
Conor McGaffic hit a home run, Katlyn Pavlick had a double and five different Panthers all had RBI's led by Pavlick with two.
Pavlick leads the team with ten hits and two home runs.
In the circle, Brittany Knight is 4-2 with a 3.06 ERA and 32 strikeouts.

Scouting UMASS
The Minutewomen dropped a pair of games in the last day of the Upstate Classic. They fell to USC Upstate 1-0 and Oakland 5-2 in the evening game.
Caroline Videtto leads the team with four runs, two doubles, and eight RBIs.
In circle, Kiara Oliver is 1-0 with a 0.62 ERA and 14 strikeouts.

Scouting ECU
The Pirates went 3-2 last weekend at the Pirate Clash in Greenville, defeating Hampton and George Washington (twice) while falling to DePaul two times. East Carolina enters the weekend with a 5-5 overall record.
Ashleigh Inae leads the Priates with a .440 batting average, 11 hits and seven walks and Olivia Narron has recorded a hit in every game this season (12) and has a .364 batting average.
In the circle, Erin Poepping has a 1.37 ERA with 13 strikeouts.

Scouting Towson
Smith-Harrington leads the team with a .500 (11-for-22) batting average while also posting a 2-0 record, 0.00 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 14 innings of work as the squad's top pitcher.
Swistock is doing well at the plate, batting .400 (8-for-20) with four runs scored, three doubles and six RBI.
Also in the circle, Sara Johnson has a 1-2 record, 4.12 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 18.2 innings.

Tigers in the Community
The Towson University athletics department deems community service as one of its highest priorities to give back to the Greater Baltimore area.

• For the 7th consecutive year, the department exceeded 10,000 hours of community service to the Greater Baltimore region, finishing with 11,162 hours of community service in the 2018-19 academic season.
• Towson ranked #1 nationally for community service and won the 2018 National Championship for Community Service through the Helper Helper NCAA Team Works Competition.
• Towson had a 97% participation rate, attended 118 community service opportunities and volunteered with 19 organizations.
• Towson won the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
