TOWSON, Md.- The Towson University Tigers tennis team plays three matches this week, including two against CAA opponents. The Black & Gold welcome Johns Hopkins for a midweek match at the Tiger Tennis Complex, then resume CAA action with a pair of matches against Charleston and UNCW on Saturday and Sunday.

Sarah Pospischill was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Pospischill is the first Tiger to win CAA Player of the Week since Phoebe Collins won the honor in 2019. She went 2-0 at No. 1 singles to lead Towson to victories over Rider (4-2) and CAA foe Monmouth (5-2) last week.

The senior from Reisenburg, Austria, defeated Rider's Leila Koster, 6-2, 6-4, as the Black & Gold swept the top three singles spots. She followed with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win over Monmouth's Ann Spurka as Towson again won the top three spots. Pospischill went 1-0 at No. 1 doubles, picking up a win against the duo of Koster/Agnese Ceccarelli from Rider 6-2.

Last Time Out
The Black & Gold played four matches across five days, starting with a trip to Florida to play West Georgia and Wisconsin Eau-Claire. The Tigers split the matches falling to West Georgia 5-2 but winning 5-2 against Wisconsin Eau-Claire. Towson then traveled to Greensboro for a CAA match against N.C. A&T and were swept 4-0 by the Lady Aggies. The Black & Gold returned to Towson to host Howard yesterday. The Tigers dropped the match 6-1 to the Bison with

Schedule UpdateÂ
The Tigers have a couple of changes to their spring schedule. The Black & Gold have added CAA newcomers North Carolina A&T and Hampton to the schedule. The Tigers will play the Aggies on March 24th in Greensboro while hosting Hampton at the Tiger Tennis Complex on April 10th. Towson also added Loyola on April 13th at the Tiger Tennis Complex.

Fall RecapÂ
Towson competed in three tournaments during the fall season. The Tigers opened play at the Tribe Invitational and picked up a double win from the duo of
Antonia Lawson/
Olivia Rothfeld. The team then competed in the Bedford Cup, where Rothfeld won her singles bracket over former Tiger
Sissi Axelsson.
Sarah Pospischill finished as a runner-up in her flight, falling to Sifa Butcher 6-4, 6-3. In doubles, the duo of Lawson & Rothfeld won their bracket over Morgan State's Lauryn Hall/Averiana Mitchell. The final tournament Towson participated in was the Fall Tiger Classic. Jessica Assenmacher winning two matches in her final two games as a Tiger. Â Â
Johns Hopkins Scouting Report
Hopkins brings in an 8-3 record with a 3-0 record in the Centennial. The Blue Jays started the spring season with a 9-0 win over Christopher Newport, then dropped the following match 4-0 to Hampton. Hopkins played Howard next and lost 5-2 to the Bison, but bounced back with a 9-0 win over Franklin & Marshall. The Blue Jays dropped their next match to New York University 5-4, then defeated Stevens 8-1. Hopkins won its next three matches 9-0 against Muhlenberg, Washington College and Schreiner. Hopkins is coming off a pair of 6-3 victories against Colby and Trinity. Â Â

Charleston Scouting Report
The Cougars have accumulated a 12-5 record so far this spring. Charleston started the spring season with a 7-0 loss to Clemson, then bounced back with three wins against Presbyterian (6-1), Coastal Carolina (5-2) and Kennesaw State (6-1). The Cougars lost 4-1 to Georgia Southern, then swept Newberry 7-0. The Cougars dropped their next match to Stetson 5-2, then defeated Oakland (4-3) and Campbell (7-0). Charleston lost a close match to Samford 4-3 then responded with six consecutive wins. The winning streak came to a halt in Charleston's most recent match versus UTSA as the Cougars fell 4-3. Charleston had its last two matches against Elon and William & Mary canceled. Â

UNCW Scouting Report
The Seahawks have earned an 8-6 record during their spring campaign. UNCW started the spring with three wins against N.C. Central (5-2), Queens (6-1) and Presbyterian (7-0). The Seahawks picked up their first loss to UNC Asheville, 6-1, then bounced back with a 7-0 sweep against UNC Greensboro. UNCW was swept 7-0 by Charlotte, then won the next two matches against Mount Olive (6-1) and Longwood (4-1). The Seahawks went on a four-match skid capped off with a 5-2 loss against Elon. UNCW is currently on a two-match win streak with a 6-1 win over Wagner and a 5-2 win over Hofstra.
