WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Towson University women's golf team completed it's season opener tournament, placing eighth with a final score of 936 after rounds of 305-319-312.
Georgetown managed to keep the first-place spot, completing the event at 27-over par, 891. The field was tight throughout the next four spots as only five strokes separated second and fourth place. UNC Asheville ultimately was the runner up team with one of it's players, Phoebe Carles, winning the individual title. Carles finished in first place in the 51-player field after shooting an even par 72 for each of the three rounds. The Bulldogs earned a combined final score of 899.
Freshman
Grace Oristian was the top finisher for the Tigers, wrapping up the tournament after improving by two strokes from yesterday's efforts to shoot a 75. She recorded four birdies for the round, doubling the amount from her previous 18 holes. The Maryland native concluded her Tiger debut tied for 19
th place.
Madison Barber shot a 75 as well for her final 18 holes, which ended up being her best round of the tournament. The graduate student added three birdies to her scorecard, totaling four overall. Barber finished in 35
th place.
Faith McIlvain shot 11-over par, 83 for her third round. The senior earned 10 pars and one birdie throughout the tournament.
Isabella Portokalis and
Kyndall Campbell rounded out the squad.
Final Scores
The action picks back up for the Black & Gold at the Navy Invitational on September 30 and October 1
st. The tournament will take place at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, Maryland.
