WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Towson University women's golf team is set to kick off the season at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate. The tournament hosted by Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) foe William & Mary will take place from September 11-12 on the River Course at the Kingsmill Resort.
This will be a 54-hole tournament with the first 36 holes being played on Monday and the remaining 18 on Tuesday.
"We've had a great start in preparation to the semester thus far with qualifying completed and now gearing up for the fun part," head coach
Shannon Briggs commented. "The reward for all the hard work and preparation this summer to come back to the collegiate scene and compete this week at Kingsmill."
The Field
Towson will be joined by UNC Asheville, Elon, Georgetown, Longwood, Maryland Eastern Shore, Mount St. Mary's, Radford, Rollins and William & Mary.
Roster
Towson's roster for the 2023-24 season consists of seven athletes, five returners and two newcomers. Rising freshman
Grace Oristian and sophomore transfer
Peyton Costabile will make their debut as Tigers this season.

Rayab Lee (junior) and
Kyndall Campbell (sophomore).
"Our team welcomes back season returners that are eager to get out and enjoy competition amongst their teammates and peers," Briggs added. "I'm really proud of the synergy we've created this early in the season and this positive momentum is going to help us to achieve our goals throughout the season together."

Last Season Recap
The Tigers had their season opener in Williamsburg, Virginia last year as well, finishing in fifth place overall out of 10 teams at the William & Mary Fall Invitational. The Black & Gold completed the event with a final score of 910 (+46), improving from their result at the previous year's tournament on the same course by two strokes.
Isabella Portokalis was the top finisher amongst this year's returners as she tied for 19
th after having rounds of 75-75-77 to shoot 11-over par.
The team wrapped up the 2022-23 season with a strong 5
th place finish at CAA Championships, led by
Faith McIlvain's 10
th place finish. The senior shot 77-74-75, keeping her scores under the course average each round.
Madison Barber (77-77-78) tied for 19
th and was one of four players to earn an eagle during the tournament.
Faith McIlvain and
Madison Barber ranked second and third respectively for lowest score average during the 2022-23 season, finishing with 78.45 and 78.95 per round.
Upcoming Schedule
Following this tournament, the Tigers have three more events left in the fall season.
Towson stays local for it's next tournament, attending the Navy Invite at the U.S.N.A. Golf Club in Annapolis from September 30 – October 1.
The Tigers will attend the UNCG Fall Invitational at the Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina on October 9-10.
Fall season wraps up with the Edisto Fall Invitational, hosted by College of Charleston on October 16 and 17.
