PHILADELPHIA, Pa. –
Amelia Lawson earned a straight sets victory at No. 3 singles
but the Towson women's tennis team lost a 6-1 decision to Temple on Saturday afternoon.
Lawson, a junior from New Zealand, defeated Temple's Rine Nozaki 6-2, 6-4.
"It was a well-deserved win by Amelia," said head coach
Jamie Peterson. "She was very steady and played very well today. One of the things we have had all season is finishing matches, but she was able to close things out when serving for the match at 5-4 in the second set."
Sarah Pospischill (No. 4) and
Jessica Assenmacher (No. 5) each won a set in singles play for the Tigers, who have now played 10 of its first 11 matches on the road.

The Tigers will play twice next week – at George Mason on Saturday, March 27 and at home versus Villanova on Sunday, March 28, the first of seven consecutive home matches at the Tiger Tennis Complex.
