TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University tennis team will host three matches during Alumni Weekend at the Tiger Tennis Complex.
Jamie Peterson's team will face UNCW (Friday), Mount St. Mary's (Saturday) and Mary Washington (Sunday).
Playing on home courts for the first time in 720 days last Saturday, Towson defeated Loyola, 6-1, for its third victory of the season. Peterson
shuffled the lineup in both singles and doubles. He flipped
Alexa Martinez and
Themis Haliou at the top of the singles lineup and made changes to the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams. All four moves worked, as each won in straight sets.
Before Saturday's match against The Mount, the Tigers will honor seniors Martinez,
Lauryn Jacobs and redshirt junior
Schuyler Tose.
SCOUTING UNCW (Friday, April 9, 3 p.m.)
UNCW has won three consecutive matches, including a 4-3 victory over the College of Charleston last week, to improve to 8-7. The Seahawks play Loyola Thursday afternoon. UNCW leads the all-time series, 9-1, but Towson won the last meeting in 2019.
SCOUTING MOUNT ST. MARY'S (Saturday, April 10, 12 p.m.)
Mount St. Mary's is 3-4 so far this season after a loss to Loyola Wednesday. The Mountaineers host Delaware State on Friday. Riya Mathur earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors on March 17. Towson leads the all-time series with Mount St. Mary's, 12-1, and has won eight straight.
SCOUTING MARY WASHINGTON (Sunday, April 11, 2 p.m.)
Mary Washington ran its record to 6-1 with a win over Southern Virginia on Wednesday. The Eagles only loss was a 4-3 decision to George Mason. Towson also lost to Mason by a 4-3 margin. This is the first match-up between the schools since February 2009.

HEY, ALEXA
Alexa Martinez played in her 50
th career singles match against William & Mary (she is now at 57) and made her 50
th career doubles appearances for the Tigers against Loyola. As a sophomore in 2018-19, the John Carroll graduate played both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. She has played in all six singles positions and all three doubles spots during her Towson career.
DOUBLE TROUBLE

WINNING STREAK
Since being moved to No. 3 singles,
Amelia Lawson has earned three consecutive straight set victories. In wins over Temple, George Mason and Loyola, the junior has won 36-of-51 games.
STEADY SARAH
Sarah Pospischill leads the team in singles victories with six. The sophomore is 3-2 at No. 4, has two wins in the No. 5 spot and is 1-0 at No. 6.
SCHEDULE CHANGE
Towson had added a home match versus Harford Community College on Tuesday, April 20. The Owls began the season ranked 14
th in the ITA Junior College national rankings.

Amelia Lawson hail from Wellington, New Zealand, nearly 8,800 miles away from Towson.
Jessica Assenmacher is a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, which is 8,085 miles from campus.

STUDENT-ATHLETES
During the fall semester, the Towson tennis team was one of five to finish with a grade point average of 3.5 or better. The 11-person squad averaged 3.635, with

Lea Kosanovic earning perfect 4.0's. Seven student-athletes made the Dean's List. The cumulative GPA for the Towson tennis team is 3.527.

Head coach
Jamie Peterson was two-time team captain on the Towson men's tennis team from 1991-95 and finished his career with a 64-35 record, the fourth-most wins and fourth-best winning percentage in program history. Peterson helped lead the Tigers to back-to-back appearances in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship in 1993 and 1994.
TIGERS IN THE COMMUNITY
The Towson University athletics department deems community service as one of its highest priorities to give back to the Greater Baltimore area. Towson was on track to have its 8th consecutive year of over 10,000 hours of community service in 2019-20 before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down all activity. Towson finished with 7,527 hours last year, good for third in the NCAA Teamworks HelperHelper competition. Towson ranked #1 nationally for community service and won the 2018 National Championship for Community Service through the HelperHelper NCAA Team Works Competition. Towson also won the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
