TOWSON, Md. – After playing just one hour during a three and a half hour window, the Towson University tennis match with UNCW was rained out after a second weather delay.
The match began at 4:50 p.m., nearly two hours after scheduled. When play began, the teams competed in the singles matches instead of battling for the doubles point. Just before 6 p.m., thunder and heavy rains arrived at the Tiger Tennis Complex. After a 30-minute delay and with off and on precipitation in the forecast for the evening, the match was officially canceled.
Amelia Lawson, who came into the match on a three-match winning streak since being moved to No. 3 singles, was leading her match, 4-3. UNCW was up in the other three matches.
