TOWSON, Md. – After playing just one hour during a three and a half hour window, the Towson University tennis match with UNCW was rained out after a second weather delay.
 
The match began at 4:50 p.m., nearly two hours after scheduled. When play began, the teams competed in the singles matches instead of battling for the doubles point. Just before 6 p.m., thunder and heavy rains arrived at the Tiger Tennis Complex. After a 30-minute delay and with off and on precipitation in the forecast for the evening, the match was officially canceled.
 
Amelia Lawson, who came into the match on a three-match winning streak since being moved to No. 3 singles, was leading her match, 4-3.  UNCW was up in the other three matches.
 
Singles Results: 
No. 1 – Charlotte Madson (UNCW) was leading Alexa Martinez (Towson) 6-3, 3-1
No. 2 – Celeste Matute (UNCW) was leading Themis Haliou (Towson) 6-4, 1-1
No. 3 –Amelia Lawson (Towson) was leading Rachel Mathinsen (UNCW) 4-3
No. 4 – Zoe Huffman (UNCW) was leading Sarah Pospischill (Towson) 6-2
No. 5 – Jessica Assenmacher (Towson) vs. Brinley Bell (UNCW) DNP
No. 6 – Lea Kosanovic (Towson) vs. Sarah Merrill (UNCW) DNP

Towson will host Mount St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon. Peterson will honor seniors Martinez, Lauryn Jacobs and redshirt junior Schuyler Tose.before the match. With rain in the forecast, Sunday's scheduled match versus Mary Washington has been moved to Monday, April 12.
