Hall of Fame
An outstanding three-sport athlete for Towson in the mid-'50s, Bill Binder was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1980.
He scored the game-winning goal in the final contest of the 1955 season, a 1-0 victory over the University of Virginia that gave the Tigers (then the Golden Knights) a 7-1-2 overall record. The team finished its Mason-Dixon conference schedule with a 5-0-2 mark. Binder also helped Towson to a 3-2 victory over the Cavaliers in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1954.
He also contributed to the success of the Towson basketball team in '56. The program finished 5-11 that season, with close losses to Drew, Washington College and Johns Hopkins.
