Hall of Fame
A record-breaking swimmer for the Tigers in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, Dana Novotny ’92 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 2005.
At the time of her graduation, Novotny held four individual Towson records and was part of three relay record-setting teams. She set school marks in the 1650 free (17:54.75, 1992), the 1000 free (10:41.34, 1992), the 500 free (5:11.36, 1992), and the 200 free (1:57.51, 1991). Novotny was also part of the 400 free (3:47.47, 1992), the 800 free (8:13.19, 1991), and the 400 medley (4:13.35, 1991) relay teams. She swam the anchor on the 400 free and 400 medley teams.
A three-time team captain, Novotny was the team’s leading scorer in the 1990-91 season and finished fourth in the 1650 free and fifth in the 500 free at the East Coast Conference (ECC) meet that year. She was the team’s MVP in both the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons.
Novotny was part of three Tiger women’s swimming teams who were honored as all-academic by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
She graduated with a degree in elementary education.
