Hall of Fame
A two-year captain and key member of the team during its most successful era, John Reister '85 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1995.
He was honored as the team’s Most Valuable Swimmer three times in his four-year career. When the Ocean Pines, Md., native swam for the Tigers, Towson posted 29 consecutive dual meet victories in the early 1980s. He was an important part of the Tigers’ back-to-back undefeated teams in 1980-81 and 1991-82.
When he graduated, he held school records in the 50-free and 100-free and was part of three record-setting relay teams. A versatile swimmer, Reister also held the school record in the 100-butterfly.
He was honored as the East Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for swimming as a senior. After graduating, he spent his career as an orthopedic surgeon.
