Arguably the best tennis player in Towson history and the East Coast Conference (ECC) in the early 1980s, Gil Schuerholz '85 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1995.
The Tigers’ number one singles player from 1982-85, he won the ECC number one singles title three years in a row (1983-85). He was also part of ECC champion number one doubles teams with Stuart Rosenfeld in 194 and ’85. A three-year team captain, Schuerholz led the Tigers to consecutive second-place finishes in the ECC in 1984 and 1985.
Honored as Towson’s Senior Athlete of the Year in 1985, the Lutherville, Md., native also won the ECAC Fall Singles Championship in 1984. During his career, he won 121 singles matches to establish a Towson record as well as an East Coast Conference mark.
